IORMA SUMMER RECEPTION – THE FUTURE OF INTERNATIONAL TRADE
Thursday 14th June 2018
IORMA’s Annual Summer Reception 2018 at the UK’s Institution of Engineering and Technology – a climax to London Tech week
IORMA @ the IET, a very fitting and appropriate location for IORMA’s annual summer reception which returned to London recently.
The IET, with a long tradition of being a focal point for UK excellence in engineering, innovation and technology and IORMA a new, UK based innovation networking group, based in London but with global reach. IORMA’s passion – setting tomorrow’s disruptive technologies within today’s context; a keen eye for how consumers are impacted, positively and negatively.
The evening attracted top management participation from a range of sectors, retail, banking, health, AI and autonomous transport. Very different areas of business with one common theme – technology and how it can be used to drive sustainable value.
Following a welcome by IORMA Chairman, John Andrews and our strategic partner for the evening Richard Emmott, Managing Director of Attune, Europe, Michael Charlton, Managing Director from The Department for International Trade addressed the reception. A number of key themes came out of the addresses:
- The UK has a unique opportunity to use global digital leadership as a supercharger for enhanced global growth – today it is easier than ever to trade across the world
- IORMA is passionate about digital technology and how it impacts consumers – identifying and creating synergies across all sectors
- Mobile, AI, Robotics and Machine learning are critical to drive forward experiential trade
“On an evening where we had to compete with the start of the Football World Cup, 2018, I was positively impressed by the number of people at our reception. We seem to have identified a real area where IORMA can make a significant contribution. As we plan for a busy Autumn programme of activity , it was heartening to see such willingness from our Board, partner companies and new potential members in driving our innovative agenda forward” enthused John Andrews, Chairman IORMA.
